My Coaching Story
I used to wear masks and adjust my behaviour, a.k.a “chameleon mode”, for a long time.
I started very young and continued at high school, at university, at work, and even in social situations to belong to the group. I knew it was a disguise, but eventually, it became second nature to me. The gap between who I was and who I was showing kept getting wider.
On a Saturday morning in December 2015, as I sat on my balcony sipping coffee and preparing my first “end of year presentation” for the Board, I realized I didn’t know how to introduce myself. It may sound silly, but phrases like “I’m x years old, “I have this or that role in this or that Company”, or “ I live in…”, didn’t express who I was, but didn’t know another way.
I felt uneasy. I tried to push the feeling aside and re-focus on the presentation, but the feeling was there to stay. I realized I didn’t know how to continue those phrases because I had no idea who I was or what I wanted.
A friend gave me a simple, though powerful advice: “Paula, seek help”.
That is when my awareness journey started.
I did hard work. I deconstructed who I was to build who I am. I challenged everything I accepted as true, every belief I had. I let go of structures that no longer served me. I was ready to start building new ones and get rid of the chameleon suit.
It was time to take care of the What do I want? question.
I drew my own map, envisioning where I was, where I wanted to be, and how I wanted that to look.
I discovered I find purpose in supporting others to thrive on their own terms and passionate about challenging the status quo.
I found one way to live my passion and purpose is through coaching and that is, in a nutshell, why I became a transformational coach.
Why transformational?
Because the work together is to the root. We reimagine what is truly possible for you. It is about breaking free from unconscious patterns and embracing a life where you can thrive on your own terms.
